Positive

Examples

There is a shower.

Negative
Examples
There isn't a garden.
There aren't any carpets.
There isn't a dining room.
There aren't four bedrooms.
There are only three.
Yes/No questions
Examples
Is there a shower? Yes, there is.
Are there any bookshelves? Yes, there are.
Are there any pictures? No, there aren't.
Is there a garden? No, there isn't.

How many - How much
How many...? ( for countable nouns)
We use How many to ask about the number of things.
How many bathrooms are there?
How many bedrooms are there?
How many armchairs are there?
How much...? ( for uncountable nouns)
We use How much with uncountable nouns used mainly in negative and interrogative sentences.

Examples
She has some plates.
There aren't any mugs.
Are there any carpets?
There are some cups.
Does she have any clothes?
I have some books on my table.
How much data is there?
How much water is there?
How much money have you got?

A lot of
a lot of = a large number of things
She has a lot of clothes.
It means = many / much
It can be used with countable or uncountable nouns
Examples
I have a lot of books.
She has a lot of shoes.
She has a lot of pencils in her backpack.
Leo has a lot of free time.
I drink a lot of water.
They’ve got a lot of orange juice.

this/these to talk about people/things that are near to us.
I like this picture. (singular)
How much are these mugs? (plural)
that/those to talk about people/things that aren't near to us.
Can you see that man? (singular)
Who are those children outside? (plural)
We can use this/that/these/those without a noun.
This is lovely. That's horrible.
Can I have this ? These are my favourite.
I don't like that. I don't want those.
